This is hilarious:

If only it weren’t true, well, kind of true.

Thanks for listening;)

Um, pick a side, any side…PLEASE!

No matter what side you are on, John McCain will make you feel like he doesn’t want you:

This is the full article, with 12 chapters:

http://history.howstuffworks.com/american-history/john-mccain.htm

interesting if you haven’t gotten this far:

http://history.howstuffworks.com/american-history/john-mccain6.htm

Um, yeah:

So, it seems that John McCain has had a history of voting conveniently, as it suits his political goals.

So, why are people connecting with him?

Pressed to Oppression

It seems to me that if you claim to be of the people,s you should answer to the people:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13791.html

one more added after original post:

http://www.thepajamapundit.com/2008/09/sarah-palin-press-count_28.html

After the CBS/Couric debacle, I can understand some of this, but she is the one turning into  paparazzi material.

I believe in the freedom of speech.  I believe in the freedom of the press; therefore, I believe in the 1st Amendment, you know, that pesky document attached to The Constitution, the one seemingly shredded by the Bush administration.  that is what makes me mad when I hear anyone, yes anyone, is infringing on those rights.  So, when I hear about Obama’s campaign asking for no signs at a rally, I may raise an eyebrow, but when a political figure is not being made available to the press at the same rate as her running mate, or her opponents, I have to stand up and say, “Why?”

The easy answer is she has something to hide.  While I believe this to be true, Trooper-gate, Bridges and Roads to Nowhere, Cronyism, and potential book banning, to name a few, I smell something a little more juicy.

She is dumb (slow to learn or understand; lacking intellectual acuity).

So, I ask the question now: How do we know she can handle being Vice-President?

But there are more basic questions that she needs to answer, and she has 37 days to step up and prove me wrong.

Thanks for listening;)

WOW!

D&B Politics had its best day ever yesterday, 159 hits!

I know that isn’t much, but it more than doubles all of our hits since our inception about a month ago.

Special thanks to David Letterman, and HuffingtonPost.com, they were the ones that made that day possible for the new readers of D&B Politics.

Thanks, again, for listening;)

Debatable…

Posted in 2008, McCain, Obama, american, election, freedom of speech, politics, republicans with tags , , , on September 27, 2008 by n8

There was a debate last night, but mostly it was about who won.

It seems to me we should be more worried about what they said than who won.  With MSNBC’s Pat Buchanan’s boxing references, and CNN’s live scorecard graphics, it was portrayed as more of a boxing match than a live political debate.  And yes, I did watch it almost twice, and yes, it is that important.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe in identifying winners and losers, but with as much that is hanging in the balance for the current president, and what will be left for the next president, shouldn’t we be listening more, and postulating less.

So, what I found was the most unbiased commentary on the debate.  I know that it is not the most specific, but I think that it clearly outlines the generalities, and gives credit where credit is due:

Letterman Roped It….

Posted in 2008, Keith Olbermann, Letterman, McCain, american, election, freedom of speech, politics, republicans with tags , , on September 25, 2008 by n8

If you missed it here’s the synopsis:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/25/letterman-attacks-mccain_n_129467.html

I grew up trying to stay up and sneak out to watch Dave.  He has always been funny, but with this slight by the McCain campaign he nailed ‘em.

The icing on this cake was Keith Olbermann being the fill in guest, and as my wife suggests, I do have a man-crush on Keith.

Thanks for listening;)

In response to Pocket Change

In response to a blog by a former collegue: http://mikeparrish.wordpress.com/2008/09/19/obama-getting-his-on-the-job-training/

“Again, the notes and quotes are clear.  “On-the-job training” are kind of your words, more redstate.com than yours, but not really a good point.  Obama disagrees with writing a check to a deregulated private industry, but agrees that there needs to be action, mainly re-regulating it.
McCain seems to need the tutorial as well.  “I am a deregulator”.
“Oh, wait, my buddies are losing there shirts”.
“We need more regulation, and need to bail these…” thieves “…out,NOW!”
You tell me who is the flip-flopper, you tell me who can make a decision for himself, you tell me who is not in the pocket of big banks and oil.
Thanks Phill Gramm fro all of your deregulation, and writing the McCain economic plan.
Mike, you could write a better policy than that.
Thanks.”

You’ll see a string of my comments on this site, mainly because I do respect Mike as a person, but whole-heartedly disagree with him “90%” of the time.

Thanks for listening;)

When the Flip, tuns into a Flop

Again, I know that this is commentary, but well written and well thought out, and really just needed to be said by all of them:

Huffington Post Commentary: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/25/at-white-house-mccain-pla_n_129438.html

Wash. Post Column: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/24/AR2008092403918.html

Slate commentary: http://www.slate.com/id/2200867/

Blog Commentary: http://www.time-blog.com/swampland/2008/09/what_actually_happened_yesterd.html

It seems to me that this ploy has backfired, kind of like deja vu all over agan…but more on Palin later.

Thanks for listening;)

Let’s Clear Things Up

Posted in 2008, McCain, Obama, Palin, american, election, family, life, politics, ramble with tags , on September 19, 2008 by n8

This is from a family member.  I read it this morning and knew it had to be here”

“I‘m a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight…..

If you grow up in Hawaii , raised by your grandparents, you’re “exotic, different.”
Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American story.

If your name is Barack you’re a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
Name your kids Willow , Trig and Track, you’re a maverick.

Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you’re well grounded.

If you spend 3 years as a community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate’s Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran’s Affairs committees, you don’t have any real leadership experience.
If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you’re qualified to become the country’s second highest ranking executive.

If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you’re not a real Christian.
If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you’re a Christian.

If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.
If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state’s school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you’re very responsible.
If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family’s values don’t represent America ’s.
If you’re husband is nicknamed “First Dude”, with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn’t register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

OK, much clearer now.

Yeah, what she said.

Thanks for listening;)
